It is with great
pride, pleasure, and honor that Tennessee Academy of
Gymnastics has been selected to host the 2010 Region
VIII Men's Gymnastics Championships. This event will
take place at the Chattanooga Convention Center
April 8-11, 2010. This year's competition will
feature a couple of firsts. First is the new format.
For the first time, Region 8 Championships will be
conducted using the Modified Capitol Cup format,
also known as A/B format (more on that below).
Second, be on hand for the Grand March-In on
Saturday, prior to the start of the Level 10 session
to recognize not only the great athletes of our
region, but welcome the inaugural class of the first
Region VIII Hall of Fame induction ceremony, as
well!
New Format!
For the first time, Region VIII will utilize the A/B
format, which will provide viewing of the entire
competition, warm ups as well as competition! A

New Qualifying Procedure!
NO MORE QUALIFYING SCORES! To ensure fair and
adequate distribution of participants at each level
at the 2010 Regional Championships, the region has
adopted the same allotment system used to determine
qualifiers to JO Nationals. Based on total numbers
of registered athletes in Region VIII, each state
will have a number of allotted slots at regionals at
each level! Exact numbers from each state will be
published in the very near future!
New Team Structure!
This year, in an effort to match peers with peers,
the team competition at this year's regionals has
been restructured, providing more awards and more
homogeneous competition. Here are the team
breakdowns per level:

Levels 7 (all ages
combined for team), 8 (all ages combined), 9 (all
ages combined), and 10 (14-15, 16-18) teams will be
top 6 from state with top 3 scores on each event
counting for team score.
The Venue
The 50,000 square feet, beautiful and spacious
Chattanooga Convention Center will be the site of
2010 Region VIII Men's Gymnastics Championships.
The Equipment
Midwest Gym Supply is the official equipment
provider for the 2010 Region VIII Men's Gymnastics
Championships. The site will feature two full sets
of equipment (including two, full size 45’' x 45'
spring floors!). Scoring by Meet Control, for
efficient, accurate and spectator friendly scoring!
The FUN!!
As mentioned above, Saturday afternoon will feature
the first "Grand March-In" which will recognize
distinguished athletes and coaches, as well as the
first Region 8 Hall of Fame induction ceremony! |
